TAX: As of 1 July 2018, Australian goods and services tax (GST) will apply to shipments that have a total value of 1,000 AUD or less being imported into Australia. Most goods and services you purchase locally in Australia automatically include GST in the price, but now companies importing goods and services from around the world are required to collect the tax directly from Australian shoppers. GST is calculated based on the value of the items you ship from a merchant, plus Ship7 service and shipping charges. GST has always been collected by Australian customs on goods and services from the USA that are valued over 1,000 AUD, but as of 1 July 2018, if the total value is under 1,000 AUD, you are now required to pay GST as well and we will be collecting that tax. GST is valued and charged per merchant. That means if you ship a consolidated package with Ship7 that has a $200 item from Merchant A, and $1,200 item from Merchant B, you will still be charged GST for Merchant A. Learn more about GST here.
If the total value of your shipment is more than “de minimis value” announced by Australia government; your will be responsible for paying the charges to clear your items from the customs. These charges include but not limited to; Duties, Taxes, Processing charges and fees. If the total value of your shipment is below the “de minimis value”, you won’t be charged for any duty or tax.
*excluding alcohol and tobacco where duty/tax apply
Ship7 offers shipping services that do not include duties, taxes & customs processing fees. Ship7 members will be responsible for paying any charges, including those that are due when your packages are delivered. Meanwhile, we are constantly working on providing our members DDP (Delivered Duties Paid) services for certain countries (where country’s customs processing systems are automated and have pre-set rules for calculations). When selecting shipping options on Order Checkout page, please check whether your shipping service is a DDP service or not.
The cost of a shipment can be affected by the amount of space that it occupies on an aircraft, rather than the actual weight. This is the volumetric (or dimensional) weight.
If dimensions are in Inches
