But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.”Davenport writes that the snark has continued to this day! Again, he quotes comedian cum author Jon Stewart: “Fatherhood is great because you can ruin someone from scratch.” After quoting renowned authors, Davenport writes about the traditional teenager's opinion of Father's Day: "It's just like Mother's Day only, but you don't spend as much. He then suggests that the kids can still give Dad a sarcastic card if they wish, but if they stop there, there may be some payback in their future. Remember, Davenport warns that at some point, the kids may want to tap the old men for the deposit for their first apartment or to co-sign a car loan. "And when your car breaks down, he will drive to your rescue!" he writes.To recapitulate, the author urges the kids to give it a little thought and seek out a nice gift for their fathers.
